Traditional Marking

Before pin marking and laser marking technologies emerged, there was traditional marking methods such as stamping. This form of marking used steel type or steel dies along with applied pressure to stamp a mark into metal.  These marks could be done manually with hand stamps or mechanically with pneumatic and hydraulic roll marking and press marking machines equipped with steel tooling.

The Advantages Of Traditional Marking

Traditional marking machines are simple to set up, easy to operate, and perfect for repetitive marking. They are quiet, safe, very reliable and have minimal maintenance.

Roll marking is an economical solution for uniform deep marking applications that have high tonnage requirements. Press marking is best when a more controlled stamping pressure is needed to eliminate dramatic impact and reduce noise. Rotary roll marking machines are great for marking on cylindrical or tapered round parts in high-speed, high-production applications with minimal changeover.

Traditional marking is where GT SCHMIDT began back in 1895 and we still make these machines and their tooling today. Our traditional machines can be equipped with a variety of part-feeding systems like bowl feeders, gravity chutes, hoppers, and carrier dials which provide a continuous marking cycle that reduces part handling and minimizes or eliminates labor.
