Overview

Interchangeable marking dials for our Schmidt Model 4 manual nameplate presses.

Available Dial Assemblies: Each marking dial assembly is supplied with an engraved dial, a rubber knob, a pointer and the proper size escapement wheel to correspond with the character size you choose. Each marking dial has 40 characters - A through Z (upper case), 0 through 9, slash (/), dash (-), period (.) and an ampersand (&). Marking dials are available in sharp face characters with a range of character sizes. ***Please familiarize yourself with our character spacing info below before purchasing your dial***

Sharp Face Dials: Sharp face can be used to mark on all materials - steel, brass, stainless steel*, aluminum, plastic, etc. The sharp face characters are available in 3/32 inch, 1/8 inch, 3/16 inch & 1/4 inch character sizes.

Character Spacing: Please familiarize yourself with our Character Spacing before purchasing.

Each letter or figure occupies a space as wide as it is high. Fractions (1/2, 1/4, etc.) are made with the characters in line - not above one another. A fraction will occupy a space equal to letters or figures of the same character size. 1/2 will take up the same space as 123.

For example, 1/8 inch characters are spaced 8 to the inch. Marking the word TEMPERED using an 1/8 inch character dial would occupy one inch. The same reading in 3/32 inch characters would yield a mark 3/4 of an inch long.

*GTS does not recommend the use of character sizes larger than 1/8 inch on stainless steel - while the dial is quite capable of creating an impression in this material, the pressure required to mark larger characters may cause the ram to deflect resulting in incomplete characters.

*Why different Prices: Marking dial prices vary based on the character size. The larger dial sizes are more custom and therefore require an upcharge for manufacturing. When you select your size, the total price will adjust automatically.
