SCHMIDT Reaches 250,000 Hours Without Lost-Time Injury
Ensuring our employees are safe is a priority at SCHMIDT, and we’re proud to announce that 56t we hit a significant safety milestone at GT SCHMIDT this month: 250,000 hours without a lost-time injury (LTI).
An LTI refers to incidents that result in a disability or an employee missing work due to an injury. The 250,000 hours equates to 34 months based on the size of our staff.
“In a manufacturing facility with over 100 dangerous machines, oily and wet floors, overhead cranes and gantry’s, multiple furnaces, and various other opportunities for accidents, almost three years without an LTI is an extremely impressive accomplishment,” said GT SCHMIDT President and CEO, Trevor Fawbush.
A lost-time injury can lead to lost productivity and additional costs in overtime, training, administrative fees, and increased insurance rates. But most importantly, preventing LTIs means that each employee goes home healthy at the end of every shift.
“When staff members get into a routine, it’s easy to become complacent and not think about following all safety measures and maybe skipping some steps. By reinforcing safety policies, providing the appropriate PPE, and ongoing education, our managers have done an excellent job keeping everyone accident-free and reaching this 250,000 hour milestone,” Fawbush said.
“We look forward to reaching 500,000 hours.”
