GT SCHMIDT at IMTS: Welcome to the Laser Show
IMTS 2016 is right around the corner, and GT SCHMIDT will exhibit in booth N-6159 at McCormick Place. We have some exciting new technology in store for attendees. Here’s a sneak preview of what you’ll see at the booth.
Laser marking technology at IMTS
The star of the show is our 100-watt laser, a relatively new player in the permanent marking space. It works with great speed and depth, benefits that, until now, were mutually exclusive. It will be paired with our newest laser cabinet. We will have continuous live demos running with our 100-watt throughout the show.
We’re also excited to showcase our class 4 laser technology at the show, an open architecture fiber laser. This laser will be working in a custom work station teamed with a FANUC robot. It’s a flexible, functional, easy-to-use marking option that, for obvious reasons, will be display-only at the show.
The FANUC will use vision guidance to locate and pick the part to be marked. It will work through the full marking and decoding sequence displaying the flexibility of this technology. The following steps will take place:
- The robot will pick up the part and present it to the laser
- The laser will move into place and simulate a mark. 2D data matrix and human readable alphanumeric characters will be simulated.
- The robot will move the part to a vision station for decoding of the 2-D datatmatrix and implementation of an optical character recoginiton (OCR) camera
- The robot will drop the part and retrieve another to start the process of marking and reading again.
Finally, our 10-watt laser will also be in attendance, fully operational and safely housed inside an enclosure. This smaller laser is ideal for marking small parts easily and economically. We will have live demos of the 10-watt as well.
Pin marking technology at IMTS
On top of our laser technology, SCHMIDT will also demonstrate two pin marking machines at the show. One will be the Styliner Mark4, equipped with an 8” x 8” marking field and a new rotary attachment with an automatic part load/unload feature. A remote interface with a touchscreen display will be paired with this Styliner, bringing more advanced control.
Finally, we will have a Mark3, Column Mounted 4” x 4” pin stamper with a fully automated name plate shuttle feeding system. Nameplates with a minimum thickness of .020” will be loaded into an infeed magazine, automatically shuttled into marking position, marked, and automatically discharged.
The new look of GT SCHMIDT
The last thing on display at our IMTS booth won’t be our technology, but our new branding and event displays. If you see the simple and powerful GT SCHMIDT logo in blue and orange, you’ll know you’re at the right booth.
Our product manager, national sales manager, field sales force and customer service will all help man our IMTS booth. Anywhere from 5 to 10 people will be there at any given time, so stop by for a demonstration and a chat about what GT SCHMIDT can do for you.
We’ll see you at IMTS!
