Types of Traditional Marking: Rotary Roll Marking Machines

Rotary roll marking machines are a type of traditional marking machine. They are ideal for marking cylindrical or tapered round parts in high-speed, high-production applications with minimal changeover. Using pneumatic or spring-loaded pressure, the parts are rolled across a stationary concave type holder, applying enough pressure while doing so to create an impression.

We offer three different rotary roll marking machines. The pneumatic Series 19 was designed specifically for drills and rods. These vertical-dial machines roll mark the outer diameter of parts that cannot stand on their own. The carrier dial picks up each part and transports them through the marking station, where it is rolled between the marking die and the pressure dial.

Pneumatic Rotary Roll Marking Machines

The pneumatic Series 19 and Series 20 are high-speed systems that are capable of making light marks in cylindrical parts or heavy-walled tubes made of soft metal. The parts must be able to stand on end or be fitted into slots in the carrier dial. Parts are loaded onto the rotating carrier dial, which transports them through the marking station. Parts must be free to roll and strong enough to withstand marking pressure.

Spring-Loaded Rotary Roll Marking Machines

Unlike the Series 19 and 20, the Series 255 is spring-loaded and does not require compressed air. Like the Series 20 it is a high-speed system that marks parts that can stand on end or be fitted into slots in the carrier dial. Parts are loaded onto the rotating carrier dial, which transports them through the marking station. The Series 255 creates more marking pressure than the Series 20 and is able to make deeper marks in soft metals and light marks in hard metals.

For even more efficient marking, all our rotary roll marking machines can be equipped with a variety of part-feeding systems to for a continuous marking cycle that reduces part handling and minimizes labor.
