Type
holder glossary.
Hand style type holders
Hand style type holders are generally used
for marking a single straight line of steel type characters,
although special
models
are available to accommodate marking "radially" (in
a circle) and multiple straight lines of characters.
Shank style type holders
Shank style type holders are used in punch
presses, press marking machines and have also been used in
roll marking applications when a shank style tool can be
safely accommodated. Available from stock for most single
line applications to
accommodate straight type characters from 1/16" through
1/4" -
please see the chart on the Shank
Style page for availability.
Round
type holders (or Knurl type holders)
These type holders are designed for roll marking
of flat parts and accommodate knurl type (segments of type
machined from a steel ring). Single line standard holders
are available from stock to accommodate up to 5/32" type.
Please see the the chart on the Round
type holders page for
availability.
Straight type holders
Straight type holders are used for roll marking
of round parts as well as for press, squeeze or impact marking
of flat or round parts. The most common configurations accommodate
straight grooved type and are single line, although we can
design and manufacture multi-line holders. Mounting is dependent
upon the application - the most common is T-bolt mounting
for Schmidt models 175, 175-6, 175-MPC, 365, 377, 477, 575,
575-MPC,
577, series 12 and model 660. Please see the chart
on the Straight
